Deathtoll

Welcome to Deathtoll! Make sure someone has the shield that Nagafen gives you so you can break through the fire wall and turn off the gnomish torch for the raid. The zone in break is the hardest part of the trash. Once that is done correctly and the traps are learned, the zone trash is pretty easy to handle. The zone in area has 7 encounters total. One of them is a stealthed Deathless Gazer. See Invis does NOT show these mobs. You have to have a Totem of the Butterfly to see it. The Gazers are the only mobs that respawn in the zone. They seem to be on a 30-45 minute respawn timer. There are 2 of the Gazers at the zone in. One stealthed, one not stealthed. The stealthed one paths a bit. The non-stealthed one is static. Underneath the ledge is about 6 Droag's. They seem to be two encounters. A Flying snake creature paths along the river. Once those 5 encounters are defeated, the raid can move further in a bit.

We pull the droags first because the MT can proxy aggro them pretty easy. There should be two groups of 3 under the ledge. They go down very fast. After that, we pull the wandering snake. That can be a little tricky as you have to wait for the Gazer to path away. Now, the fun starts. The Deathless Gazers are the hardest trash mobs in the zone. They either have a Heat AOE DD/DOT or a Cold AOE DD/DOT. There seems to be no way to tell which one they have, so keep both resists up for these fights. Both dots can be cured with Elemental healer cures or alchemist potions. In addition to this, they can charm their target. So, you have to have 2 MT's ready to go as the MT will get charmed often. Once both gazers are dead, the raid can now move from the zone in area.

There are two types of trap mobs throughout the zone. The first is the stealthed Gazers. There are quite a few of those. The second are Carrion Worms. These come out of the floor when someone walks by their trap area. The first trap is right after you cross the little stream in the zone in area. Make sure a monk goes there first to trigger them. Then have the MT pull them. After that is done, the Basilisk in the dragon skull can be pulled and killed. At this point, someone who has the fire resistant shield which Nagafen gives you during the Access quest must use it to pass through the fire wall inside the dragon skull. When that person goes through the fire wall, the gnome running the torch runs off and the torch can be disabled. Be very careful while doing this because there is a Deathless Gazer who is stealthed inside the tunnel. He paths all the way up to the torch. Once he is killed, that will be the last Gazer you fight for a while.

In the tunnel there will be two more Worm traps. Just have the monk/bruiser zig zag down the tunnel to spawn them. Then have the MT pull em. At the end of the tunnel is a huge pit with catwalks up top. You can't wander around outside the pit because there are Bowmen on the catwalks that will shoot fire arrows at you. So, the entire room is pulled into the tunnel. There are 4 Worm traps in the room. One on each side in both the front and back of the room. Just pull the various encounters there into the tunnel and burn them down until all that is left is the Bowmen on the catwalks. The Bowmen have a poison and trauma debuff similar to the one the Ravagers have in Labs, so make sure that is cured. We pulled them from the catwalks one group at a time with a Ranger. That seemed to work well. Once all the Bowmen are cleared, the room can be entered. DON'T forget about the Worm traps in the back! Once they are dealt with, it's time for the first named.

After the first named is cleared, you enter another tunnel area. There are 2 Worm traps. Then there is a small pit with some mobs. After pulling those, there is a Worm trap in the center of the pit. Then the tunnel continues. There are 2 more Worm traps in that tunnel. The end of the tunnel opens up to the Research area. There's a broken bridge straight ahead and all sorts of mobs to the left and right below. The Desecrated Drake flies where the bridge is broken. Pull him and the nearby trash mobs into the tunnel to clear the way. There is also three or four stealthed Gazers that path around this area. Make sure you've got a Totem up to see them or things can get nasty. Pull the first Gazer and then it should be clear to go down the rocks to the right. There will be a worm trap down there before you get to the climbable wall. Once that is cleared, the raid force, can head up the wall and kill the mobs to the right. From there, pull the 2nd Gazer that paths near the bridge and the way should be clear to kill the mobs in the Library. There is a third one who paths near here also, so be careful when pulling from the library. There might be a 4th one who paths by the stairs below. Just make sure you've got Butterfly totems and someone with See Invis at all times.

Once the gazers are clear, you can pull the mobs from the library. Fitzpizle is not aggro there, so pull everything except him. If you need Claymore location updates still, don't kill him yet. If not, he's the next victim. Fitzpizle is a very cool encounter, but not difficult at all. After he is dead, head to the bottom of the stairs below. there are two Worm traps there, so make sure the MT spawns them both first. Then stay at the bottom of the stairs. There are 2 Gazers that wander in the tunnel. They often will wander very close to each other. They can be seen with See Invis. Have the MT pull them to the bottom of the stairs one at a time. Then the tunnel is clear. Head through it to the next named room.

Kill all the Withering Corpuscle's in the room. Be careful to spawn all the Worm traps first. There are 2 of the right side and most likely 2 on the left. As you kill each one, they will contribute to forming the Amorphous Drake. The Amorphous Drake is a very difficult encounter and requires 2 MT's. Once it is dead, there are 2 tunnels. Kill the droag's guarding the tunnels, but don't fight them where they spawn as Gazers path down the left tunnel. The tunnel to the right leads to Cruor Alluvium. The tunnel to the left leads to Tarinax. If you go left, kill the 2 gazers just like the previous ones. There are no mobs besides them to Tarinax. To the right, the tunnel is totally clear. In the room that has the pool where Cruor spawns, there is a broken bridge up top. There are random wind gusts that can blow people off the bridge as you cross and scatter your raid. The path down to Cruor is guarded by Plasma Spirits (Heroic mobs) and water elementals (x4 epics). Kill them all to make the named live. There is also a tunnel here that leads to Tarinax.

Named Monsters

Yitzak the Hurler

  • Mob Health: 1,460,000
  • Auto-Attack Type: Slashing (2k-3k dmg)
  • Special Attacks:
  1. Yitzak's Hurl - Non damaging knockback every 60 seconds or so
  • Every 60 seconds or so he summons:
    • A Bone Devil
    • Mob Health: 30,000
    • Auto-Attack Type: Slashing (1k dmg)
Strategy

This guy is pathetically easy. The only hard part is pulling him off his perch to the wall, which requires your puller or MT to run along the catwalks. Once the pull is stabilized it's simple. We don't off tank the adds or switch targets as a few AOE's will kill them.

Fitzpitzle

  • Mob Health:1,875,000 (500,000 the first time, 1,375,000 when he goes to the other side of the bridge and makes his experiments alive)
  • Auto-Attack Type: Crushing (2k dmg)
  • Special Attacks:
  1. Short Armed Flurry - Crushing AOE DD (3k-6k dmg) with power drain (3k-6k power) every 35-45 seconds
  2. Discombobulation - Crushing AOE STUN and sight blur and makes you drop your target every 45-60 seconds
  • Every time he casts Discombobulation he summons 3 of these::
    • A Book Minion (heroic)
    • Mob Health: 30,000
    • Special Attacks: None
Strategy

This is a pretty cool encounter. When you pull him, he will summon his book minions off the bat. Just have the MA switch targets every time they pop and burn them down asap. Then go back to the named. As long as the Mages and Healers are at max range, the AOE shouldn't hit them. If so, it can be real nasty because the power drain aspect can suck a person totally dry. Make sure the MT group is set up for max hate. Also, his Stun AOE makes you lose your target, so make sure everyone is assisting through the MA and re-doing so every time the stun goes off. When you get the named to about 65%, he will cast a huge long term stun on anyone close and then disappear. The problem with this is that the books keep spawning as long as you're in the library, so if you're not careful, the books can take out some healers and mages while you're stunned. After recovering from the stun, leave the library area immediately so you don't have to deal with more books. When you get across the bridge, the Named will have summoned 3 separate encounters. He will be near the basilisk and will be non-aggro. Kill the three mobs. Then pull Fitzpizle again and kill him for good.

Amorphous Drake

  • Mob Health:
  • Auto-Attack Type:
  • Special Attacks:
  1. Fire Breath - Frontal Cone Heat DD (4500 dmg) every 75 seconds
  2. Absorption - Heal (160,000) every 70 seconds
  • At 50% he splits into these 2 mobs:
    • Healthy Corpuscle
    • Mob Health: 1,600,000
    • Auto-Attack Type: Slashing (3k dmg)
    • Special Attacks:
    1. Strike of Destruction - Slashing AOE (3k-5k dmg) every 30-40 seconds
    2. IMMUNE TO CRUSHING
    • Virulent Corpuscle
    • Mob Health: 1,515,000
    • Auto-Attack Type: Slashing (3-4k dmg)
    • Special Attacks:
    1. Withering Shroud - ST Magic DD (3-4k dmg) and Power Drain (2500) every 70 seconds
    2. IMMUNE TO SLASHING
Strategy

The Drake spawns after you kill a few of those Withering Corpuscle's in the middle of the pit. He's an extremely easy fight until he splits. Once he splits, you have to move the two mobs apart until you get a message saying they are far enough apart and won't reform. You need 2 MT's for this and need to divide up the healers pretty evenly. Take down the Healthy one first as it has the AOE. Have all the dps focus on one mob at a time. Once the first mob is dead, the Virulent is easy.

Tarinax the Destroyer

  • Mob Health:
  • Auto-Attack Type:
  • Special Attacks:
  1. Necrotic Erosion - Frontal Cone Poison DD (3000-6500 dmg) every 70 seconds with a knockback
  2. Taillash - Rear Facing Cone Crushing DD (5k-6k dmg) every 65 seconds with a knockback
  3. Soul Evisceration - Poison AOE Debuff every 20-30 seconds
  4. Soulblast - Raidwide Poison AOE (5k-7k dmg) every 75 seconds - This will ONLY hit those who still have Soul Evisceration on them.
  5. HE ALSO HAS A VERY FREQUENT MEM WIPE!
  • Every 30 seconds he summons one of these:
    • Soulless Vengeance
    • Mob Health: 50,000
    • Auto-Attack Type: Slashing (1k dmg)
    • Special Attacks: None
  • If any dead body gets hit by his AOE, he summons 5 of these
    • Vengeful Devil
    • Mob Health: 10,000
    • Auto-Attack Type: Slashing (1k dmg)
    • Special Attacks: None
Strategy

This dragon doesn't have anything that's difficult to handle. The Problem is sheer huge size and his mem wipe. His huge size makes him very difficult to position or reposition. In addition, his mem wipe is annoying. It almost seems he mem wipes every 30 seconds or so. The fight very often can be chaotic and jumpy which can wipe the entire raid force in a matter of seconds, if it's not brought under control. We fight him in the water with the dragon lengthwise in the water. This seemed to be the easiest way to reposition him on his mem wipes. Once he's positioned, the dps has to burn him down asap. He does not have a lot of health for a dragon. Every few seconds he spits out a Soulless Vengeance. Just have the MA switch targets and kill it asap and then go back on the dragon. The AOE's are non existant as long as you get the debuff (Soul Evisceration) cured. We did fine on this. His Soulblast didn't hit anyone. The other problem is that dead bodies must be rezzed ASAP. Any AOE that hits a dead body will cause 5 Vengeful Devil's to spawn. So, there's lots to do. But just remember, he doesn't hit hard. It's just surviving the chaos.

Cruor Alluvium

  • Mob Health: 1,750,000?
  • Auto-Attack Type: Piercing (4k dmg)
  • Special Attacks:
  1. Vaporous Disease - Disease AOE DOT (3-4k initial, 2k per tick) with Stifle component every 45 seconds
Strategy

This guy is tough. You have to fight him in the water because he summons you to the middle of the pool. We usually send in someone to absorb the first one, then the whole raid force jumps in. We also pull with AOE immunity on the tank sometimes. Once the fight starts it is a Mega DPS burn. The longer the fight goes on, the more likely it is you will lose as the DOT is merciless.
