Court of Al'Afaz

I'm not going to list the trash as they should be very easy to anyone attempting this zone. Just realize that if you have anyone in the raid who is KoS here, you will need to kill everything in your path. Most of the trash are heroic mobs x5. This zone also has a nasty bug where people in the raid start disappearing from your screen. Oh, they are still there. But you could eventually get to a place where you are the only toon you can see, even though you are surrounded by 23 other people. It seems this bug can be corrected by using an illusion. This will not allow you to see others, but it will allow others to see you. So, if everyone does an illusion, theoretically, you should be able to see everyone again.

6 Named's gives status in this zone. 4 are located on the 3rd floor of each tower. The other two are the Moonchild and Sunchild.

Keeper of the City Keys

  • Location: Right in front of the zone in area
  • Status: None
  • Mob Health: 630,000
  • Auto-Attack Type: Crushing
  • Special Attacks:
  1. Chilling Mist- Cold AOE (4k-5k dmg) with a long duration stun every 45 seconds
  2. Wind of the Ancients - Cold AOE (3k dmg) every 30 seconds

Strategy

This mob is not attackable right away. He is located right at the zone in. To make him attackable, someone must attack the frogs that are near him. We usually have someone with feign death disband from the raid and throw something at the frogs. They feign death and the Djinn is now attackable. At this point, the pulling strategy depends on whether your MT is KOS yet to the frogs or not. If he isn't, the MT can pull the named. If he is, you need someone who isn't KOS to pull him and then the MT taunts it off of him. The named has two AOE's making it difficult to joust. He also has a 360 degree kick attack. So, given that it's very easy to fall through the cracks and die, the MT must have his back to the wall and the raid force must fight the named with their backs not facing the cracked area. That way, when the kick goes off, the MT goes nowhere and the raid force just gets thrown into the wall. So, heal through the AOE's and burn him down.

Prismatic Captain

  • Location: Just behind the elevator that leads up to the Eastern Tower
  • Status: None
  • Mob Health: 650,000
  • Auto-Attack Type: Slashing
  • Special Attacks:
  1. Wrath of Fury: Slashing AOE (2k dmg unless you're Karm - then it's like 5k - GET OUT OF THE # AOE RANGE YOU MAGE!) every 60 seconds

Strategy

This fight is simple. He is not attackable until someone steps on the elevator. There is an encounter right before him containing 4 prophets and 1 wiseman (275,000 health). After they are cleared, the MT simply steps on the elevator and then pulls the named. We just burn him down quickly as his AOE is meaningless unless you're below level 60.

When you go up the elevator, there will be mobs waiting at the top. So, if anyone is KOS, make sure no one misses the elevator and you're ready to fight upon reaching the top. There is a strong possibility Brius Lakado will be pathing into the Eastern Tower at that time also, so be prepared for a named fight right away.

Brius Lakado

  • Location: He paths between the North and East Towers. He does path inside the towers.
  • Status: None
  • Mob Health: 645,000
  • Auto-Attack Type: Slashing
  • Special Attacks: None

Strategy

This is one of the brothers in the zone. He's a wimp. There is no AOE or anything. Just burn him down. He drops an Epitaph with his loot. You will need that later for The Pattern Juggler encounter.

Wolan Lakado

  • Location: He paths between the West and South Towers. He does path inside the towers.
  • Status: None
  • Mob Health: 645,000
  • Auto-Attack Type: Slashing
  • Special Attacks: None

Strategy

Same as his brother. Even Karm could tank this guy....

The Great Gardener

  • Location: On a grassy gnoll just south of the East Tower where you come up the elevator
  • Status: None
  • Mob Health: 625,000
  • Auto-Attack Type: Slashing
  • Special Attacks:
  1. Venemous Cloud - Poison AOE (4k dmg) with a short duration stun every 50 seconds
  2. Fire and Ice- ST Heat and Cold damage (1500 dmg)

He comes with 3 friends:

  • Green Gardeners
  • Mob Health: 48,000
  • Auto-Attack Type: Crushing
  • Special Attacks:

Strategy

If we're feeling strategic we use 4 tanks on this one. The MT pulls the named while the other 3 off tanks each take one of this 3 friends. We burn down the adds, then joust the named. If we're feeling lazy, we just let the MT have em all and heal through the AOE.

The Purple Piper

  • Location: On the 3rd floor of the East Tower where you come up the elevator
  • Status: Yes
  • Mob Health: 645,000
  • Auto-Attack Type: Piercing
  • Special Attacks:
  1. Kian's Destructive Anthem: Mental AOE DOT (1000 dmg per tick) on a random timer
  2. Deafening Strike: ST Mental Power Drain (1000 power) on a random timer

He also has 2 friends: Latemen

  • Lateman
  • Mob Health: 48,000
  • Special Attacks: None

Strategy

He is a simple fight also. Unless the MT is KOS, he positions himself behind the Named. He taunts the encounter and we rush in. We burn down the adds first, then the named.

The Pattern Juggler

  • Location: On the 3rd floor of the South Tower
  • Status: Yes
  • Mob Health: About 650,000
  • Auto-Attack Type: Crushing
  • Special Attacks:
  1. Kian's Destructive Anthem: Mental AOE DOT (1000 dmg per tick) on a random timer
  2. Deafening Strike: ST Mental Power Drain (1000 power) on a random timer
  3. Trepan: ST Heat Power Drain (1000 power) on a random timer
  4. Curse of Insanity: Heat based Reverse Damage Shield which explodes your brain if you get below 50% power.

Strategy

You must give the Epitaph that Brius Lakado drops to The Pattern Juggler very quickly or he will summon 4 tier 5 raid mobs to fight before he becomes attackable. If you give him the Epitaph first, he will randomly select someone in the raid (usually a healer) and then rush them. So, it's common to get one or two deaths before the MT can get aggro. Once he does, just burn him down fast. The reason for this is Curse of Insanity. The percentage of power where your brain explodes is not confirmed, but this is the best we have to go on. This can be very dangerous for the MT as he's getting power drained during the fight. The MT needs to just taunt. He should not be spamming his combat arts. If your MT's brain does not explode, this guy is easy. Have a backup tank ready though just in case.

Maestra of Dissonance

  • Location: On the 3rd floor of the Western Tower
  • Status: Yes
  • Mob Health: 650,000
  • Auto-Attack Type: Slashing
  • Special Attacks:
  1. Stunning Chorus: Magic AOE Stun
  2. Searing Gaze: ST Heat Attack (5k dmg)

She has 2 friends:

  • An Orchestra Contralto and An Orchestra Vibrato
  • Mob Health: 48,000
  • Special Attacks: None

Strategy

This fight is the same as the Purple Piper. Unless the MT is KOS, he positions himself behind the Named. He taunts the encounter and we rush in. We burn down the adds first, then the named. She has an AOE stun, but if you can't beat that, you shouldn't go any further in this zone.

Moonchild

  • Location: Inside the Fountain near the West Tower
  • Status: Yes
  • Mob Health: 640,000
  • Auto-Attack Type: Crushing
  • Special Attacks:
  1. Chilling Mist: Cold AOE (5k dmg) with a long duration stun every 45-50 seconds
  2. Smite: ST Divine attack (2k dmg)

She spawns 3 heroic friends when you attack her:

  • Ghosts of Dawn
  • Mob Health: 25,000

Strategy

When the Moonchild is attacked, she spawns 3 Ghosts of Dawn whose purpose is to run and call for help from the Sunchild. The problem is this. If the Ghosts don't make it to the South Tower, the Sunchild does not spawn. The Sunchild gives status, so you want him to spawn. So, we usually disband someone with feign death from the raid. The entire raid force positions themselves on the Southwest wall, far away from the fountain area and the walkway. This way, the Ghosts do not aggro anyone who is KOS on their way to spawn the Sunchild. Once the Sunchild is spawned, we kill the Ghosts. This won't aggro the Moonchild. Then we attack the Moonchild with the full raid. When she spawns the new 3 Ghosts, those Ghosts MUST die before getting to the South tower. Otherwise, you will be fighting both the Moonchild and the Sunchild. The Moonchild alone is easy. We fight her in the fountain. It's generally good to joust her AOE because of the long duration stun, but sometimes we just heal through it.

Sunchild

  • Location: 1st floor of the South Tower after he's spawned by the Moonchild encounter
  • Status: Yes
  • Mob Health: 1,185,000
  • Auto-Attack Type: Slashing (1k-2k dmg)
  • Special Attacks:
  1. Enthralling Flames - Heat AOE (3k-5k dmg) with short duration stun every 27-40 seconds (timer is very flaky)
  2. Soul Burn - Heat AOE Life Tap (3k-5k dmg, 2k Life tap on the targeted person) every 27-35 seconds (usually is about 5-7 seconds behind the first AOE)
  3. Lightning Burst - ST Heat Attack (4k dmg)
  4. Mem Wipe - Random

Strategy

This fight isn't fun, even for a full tier 7 raid. The 2 AOE's just make it annoying. The Mem Wipe is what makes it down right evil. We put the MT in the middle of the room. The rest of the raid spreads out in a circle around him at max range from the MT, but not close enough to aggro the Sunchild. The reason for this is the Mem Wipe. When (not if) he Mem Wipes, he will usually run to someone randomly. The problem is this. If the mem wipe occurs near his AOE timers, then all those near the person he aggros will get hit by the AOE, which can potentially take out a bunch of the healers. If someone gets aggro from the mem wipe, they are to run to the MT in the middle of the room. The MT does NOT go get the named. We try to joust the AOE's, but it is very difficult as the timer on the first one is very flaky. There is no real consistency to it. Just burn him down asap.

Fire Witch

  • Location: 3rd floor of the North Tower
  • Status: No
  • Mob Health: 600,000
  • Auto-Attack Type: Piercing with a Heat proc
  • Special Attacks:
  1. Enthralling Flames - Heat AOE (3k-5k dmg) with short duration stun every 27-40 seconds (timer is very flaky)
  2. Soul Burn - Heat AOE Life Tap (3k-5k dmg, 2k Life tap on the targeted person) every 27-35 seconds (usually is about 5-7 seconds behind the first AOE)

Strategy

She is a mini version of the Sunchild, without the mem wipe. So, she's very easy. When the raid comes up to the 3rd floor of the North Tower, the Black Queen is there. When you talk to her, she summons the Fire Witch. If you're far enough away, the Fire Witch doesn't aggro. We position the MT on the North wall and the rest of the raid on the South wall. The MT pulls the named. We do joust the AOE's as you don't want anyone dying in this fight because the Black Queen goes aggro when the Fire Witch dies. Other than jousting it's an easy fight.

The Black Queen

  • Location: 3rd floor of the North Tower
  • Status: Yes
  • Mob Health: 1,185,000
  • Auto-Attack Type: Piercing (2k-3k dmg)
  • Special Attacks:
  1. Dark Visage: Magic AOE (4k-5k dmg) every 28-37 seconds
  2. Lightning Burst: ST Heat attack (3k-5k dmg)
  3. Curse of Insanity: Heat based Reverse Damage Shield which explodes your brain if you get below 50% power.
  4. Randomly teleports someone down to the courtyard

She has 2 friends:

  • Staunch Pilgrims
  • Mob Health: 48,000

Strategy

She becomes aggro right after the Fire Witch is killed. The MT rushes her so as to keep her from the raid force. We have 2 off tanks go grab the adds and burn them down. Then we joust the AOE and burn her down. She also has Curse of Insanity, so the MT is pretty much just using his taunts. She randomly teleports one person in the raid down to the courtyard every 30 seconds or so. This can be really nasty if the MT gets ported. Other than that, we have not had much trouble with her. She hits the MT hard and the AOE will blast even a tier 7 raid force hard, so we don't heal through it.
