Ascent of the Awakened: Meeting with the Guardians

Trash Mob's

The trash mobs have a single group AOE that is downright nasty. As you'll be fighting 2 at a time, it means you'll be getting hit by an AOE every 20 seconds or so. Since it is a single group AOE, it is important for no one else to take aggro. Those in the MT grp will want to have very high cold and heat resist to mitigate the damage from them as much as possible. The MT healers will have the responsibility of curing the dots and running their group heals to keep the MT group up. The rest of the healers in the raid will have the responsibility of keeping the MT up from the auto attack dmg. They have tons of health also, so be prepared for a long fight. They have about a 25 minute respawn timer.

  2. Tail Lash: Front Conal Crushing (2.5k-4k dmg) every 60-85 seconds (Yes this is frontal and not rear)

  5. Fire Chamber: ST Heat DD (2.5k dmg) on a random timer (does it once every 4 or 5 minutes)

  • Every person (including pets, both permanent and temporary) who gets hit by Breath of Fire spawns 2 of these:
    • Liquid Fire
    • Mob Health: 50k
Strategy

This is a long fight. First time we took him down it took us 21 minutes. The good news is that he does not hit the MT very hard at all. So, if the fight is done right, is is long, but simple. We fight him on the top where he spawns. The only danger in this fight is that he spawns 2 adds (liquid fire) for every person his Breath of Fire AOE hits. The range of Breath of Fire is the same as max range. So, there are two ways to do this. 1) The Healers joust the AOE. 2) The MT must put himself in between the Dragon and the healers, thus allowing the healers to be at Max range to the MT, but out of the range of the AOE. We do #2. The danger with this is that all dragons have knockback. So, it's a little tricky. We have the MT put himself in one of the nooks in the wall with Talendar being positioned away from that nook slightly. The dragon will knock the MT out of that nook every once in a while, so he will need to reposition the dragon and the healers will need to get themselves out of range again. We have all of our tanks do what they can to get the adds off the MT when they spawn. We pretty much have all our dps on the adds to burn them down quick. We leave a few rangers on the other side of the zone who stay on the dragon at all times, but that's it. The dps is steady, but nothing drastic because pulling aggro will most likely cause a wipe. He heals himself pretty frequently when he gets below 50%. He added almost another 1 million health to himself from the heals he did, so he's a pretty touch cookie as far as that goes. Just burn him down steadily and don't get any extra adds and the fight is long, but easy.

Gorenaire

  • Mob Health: 2,800,000
  • Auto-Attack Type: Slashing (2k-4k dmg)
  • Special Attacks:
  1. Dragon's Curse: Heat AOE Debuff every 65 seconds (don't know what it debuffs - despite its heat base, she has no heat attacks, so i'm assuming cold)
  2. Tail Lash: Rear Conal Crushing AOE (5k dmg) every 70-75 seconds
  3. Breath of Gorenaire: Cold AOE DD (3500-6500 dmg) + DOT (750 per tick every second) every 65-80 seconds
  4. Icy Breath: ST Cold DD (3500 dmg) + DOT (750 dmg per tick every 4 seconds)
  5. Prayer of Harla Dar: 175,000 Heal every 2-3 minutes
Strategy

Damage wise, this dragon is not difficult. She only has one serious AOE called Breath of Gorenaire. The entire raid needs to put their Cold Resist gear on and get it as high as possible. Also, every time someone dies, it spawns an add. Thus, no pets may be used. I've read that tank pets are okay, but scout/mage/swarm pets are definitely out. We fight her on the 2nd floor where she spawns. Her common teleport spot is the 3rd floor. The hardest part of this fight is managing the teleport. At least 3 tanks are needed to do this encounter. This should ensure enough time for the teleported tanks to get back. As long as they are taunting and can keep the dragon positioned in the same spot, the fight is a breeze. It's when the dragon moves around due to aggro loss from the teleports that things get hairy. Make sure you have a tank to pick up the adds that might come with the tanks when they are running back from getting ported.
