Welcome to the new Tech Support section of the IC site!

Why do we need a Tech Support section?
Well, it seems that every few days now someone is having trouble with their PC, or needs advice on upgrade options and since we have a TON of people with tech jobs/backgrounds I decided we should concentrate all our collective knowledge into one location!

Help! My computer blew up! What should I do!?!
Please make a post stating the following:
1. Please download CPUZ. Run it. Click the "About" tab. Click "Registers Dump (.txt)" and save it somewhere. Please attach the dump to your post.
2. What is your Operating System?
3. What is your Graphics Card?
4. Please list any other computer stats that may apply to your question.
5. What where you doing when it blew up?
6. What does it do now?
7. What (if anything) have you tried to fix the problem?

EQ2 is running so slow these days. What can I upgrade to make it run faster?
Please tell us your current computer build and we'll try to give you a list of possible upgrades and their cost. Also make sure you turn off "smooth fonts" in EQ2!!! Its a serious resource hog!

That's it, I want a new computer!! What's the best-bang-for-the-buck out there these days?
Please make a post with the following information:
1. Are you looking to build it yourself, or buy a prebuild/laptop?
2. Do you favor any specific parts maker? (Intel, AMD, ATI, nVidia...)
3. What's your price range?
4. Is there anything special you want your new computer to do? (BluRay, TiVo, wireless networking, make coffee...)

If you have a serious computer disaster and can't even post here for help, you can give the following people a call:
1. Xevin/Hiyaku (Cameron) (713)205-2533 10am-10pm
If you want to be on this list please make a post here with your info.

And if you're like me who tilts her head to one side when the geeks start asking "AGP? ATI? AMD?" download CPU-Z .. it'll give you more info about your system than you knew existed. Smile

Have them attach a hijack_this log if they're having software issues as well.
